Test an AI Headline Against the Article It Promises
A headline is a promise about the article. Before choosing the most exciting AI suggestion, compare it with the evidence and practical help the reader will actually receive. A strong headline can be specific without claiming a result that was never tested.
Work through an example
For a fictional article about organising browser bookmarks, “A Five-Minute Bookmark Review” may describe the exercise, while “Never Lose a Source Again” promises far more. Decide what the article establishes before asking for title variations.
Ask for three options that preserve the same factual scope. Require the assistant to identify the sentence or section supporting each promise. Treat its explanation as an editing aid and check the connection yourself.
Check the result
Inspect numbers, superlatives and experience claims. “Best,” “proven” and “tested” need an appropriate basis. If the article offers a proposed workflow, describe that workflow instead of implying a comparative experiment or a personal result.
Read the opening and ending under the chosen title. The introduction should deliver the promised subject promptly, and the payoff should answer the same problem. When the article changes, revisit the headline rather than keeping an attractive promise that the final copy no longer fulfils.
